Strengthening the hands who have taken a stand

Strengthening the hands who have taken a stand

Seeing a child who is forced towards beggary or labour, our heart melts, hands extend for help but then mind start thinking-“What if I help this child today, What About tomorrow?”“What about millions of other hungry and under privileged children?” “What I can do alone?” “I don’t have much time, energy or resources but of course want to help these children and do my bit for them.” “But will my amount make some difference?” ‘Which is the right organization/charitable trust/foundation for children? “Engrossed with all such questions either we keep quiet or sometimes go an extra step and try finding the answers on internet.

I was also surrounded by the same thoughts triggered by seeing a small child selling handkerchiefs at a traffic signal. An instant impulse forced me to buy the stuff which he was selling and I bought it hurriedly before the traffic started moving. Suddenly other thoughts popped up “Have I done something wrong? Will it help that child or instead encourage child labour?  I could have done something else, but what?”  The best in the scenario I could do was , just could have stopped , asked his story, helped him with some more money or to go a little further convince his parents to send him to school. Is that over? What about other millions of kids, in the same pathetic situation or even worse than that?   Emotions haunted me a little longer and made me to sit on internet. While browsing through ‘child labour’, ‘causes of poverty’, ‘education’, ‘remedies of child labour’ and what not, I came across some organization doing well in this direction.

And ‘yes’ that can be the solution. One person or a small group can’t do enough for such an engulfing problem (internet is overflowing with the data about child labour, hunger, poverty etc.) but we can do support and strengthen the hands of those who are already doing a lot to address this issue. So there are people who want to end hunger and support children related causes; there are organizations which are doing genuine effort and seeking support from people. Then where is the crack? I think it lies in the lack of awareness or a platform where these entities can be  brought together.
So coming across the campaign by Blog Adda-‘Blog to Feed a Child’ was just the right step I have been looking for from the time of that traffic signal incident and could not stop myself from writing immediately. Thank you Blog Adda for such a lofty initiative.
Through this I came to know about Akshaya Patra in detail. Till now I knew them as ‘some organization providing food’ but not aware of their reach and the scale at which they operate.
The Akshaya Patra Foundation is the world’s largest NGO run mid-day meal programme
serving mid-day meal to school children of India. Through its mid-day meal scheme it is providing meals to almost 1.4 million school children through 23 locations across 10 states of India.  By providing food for the school children it is paving their way towards brighter future by removing the biggest hurdle in the path of education- hunger. Actually by attempting to end classroom hunger it is striking the problems of illiteracy, unemployment and poverty at their grass root level.

While browsing through their website and other online footprints, I also came to know about their kitchens. With their  massive production, equipment used and process followed the kitchens have rightly been called as ‘Food Factory’ –a factory supplying nourishment to produce future of India through the process of education.

We can surely end classroom hunger by strengthening the hands of the foundation like Akshaya Patra who have already taken a stand in this direction of eliminating classroom hunger. What can be more lofty vision than “ No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger” They are working strategically to achieve it by making use of modern ,techniques, process and innovative resources.

Hats off to Akshaya Patra for working towards such a noble cause efficiently and salute to Blog Adda for promoting and supporting their cause.

If you really want to eliminate classroom hunger do support the organizations like The Akshaya Patra foundation
(Excuse me for any typo or other mistake it is just the flow of heart no time to look again as it is last day today)
